It’s already hard to believe, but just five years ago, phones only knew how to call and send SMS, and the presence of a music player was presented as a revolutionary innovation. The pace of development of mobile gadgets is breaking all records, and new technologies are being introduced at such a speed that today even last year’s device seems hopelessly outdated. Let’s try to look a little ahead and try to guess what the latest chips our mobile phones will get in the very near future.
Some of these technologies are still being tested in laboratories, while others have already been implemented in a limited range of devices. It’s impossible to say for sure whether they will gain distribution and widespread recognition, but we will try to highlight some of the most promising mobile technologies in the near future.
1. Augmented Reality (AR)
The term “augmented reality” means a mixture using special devices and programs of the ordinary real-world and virtual. This technology extremely quickly crossed the path from science fiction novels to research laboratories, and today it is already approaching consumer devices. Already there are special programs for smartphones that add a special information layer to the image transmitted from the camera to display interesting places, cafes, historical information, and so on.
2. Flexible screens
The evolution of recent years is unambiguously following the path of constantly increasing the screen diagonal. From the earliest monochrome 120×160 to the monstrous Samsung Note, not much time has passed, but perhaps very soon you will be able to resize your screen yourself, depending on the need. We owe a thank you to the technology called as OLED, your mobile screen will fold up like a sheet of paper or even fold up into a tube. In addition, the introduction of flexible thin screens can cause the appearance of flexible phones of various shapes. For example, Nokia is developing a flexible phone that looks like a bracelet.
3. Built-in projector
If flexible screens are not enough to compensate for the small screens of smartphones, then why not build in a projector? Its because the Samsung Galaxy (Beam) was released in mid-2010. With an Inbuilt Digital light projection, the projector called as WVGA can project a picture onto any flat surface. This can turn your phone into a universal entertainment center that is always with you. Watching movies, showing photos, computer games, tutorials, and other phone features will get a completely new experience.
4. Voice control phone
The hottest technology of this year. Apple, as always, sets the tone by introducing Siri, but Google makes it clear that it is ready to accept the challenge. The latest version of Android 4.1 introduced its own version of the voice assistant, which in some respects looks even more preferable. Similar developments are being prepared in the research laboratories of LG and Samsung, so you can confidently predict that voice control technology has a bright future. Soon you will be able to talk on equal terms with your phone, for example, discuss the weather or the latest movies, ask to read the latest news or remind you of an upcoming meeting.
5. 3D Screens And Holograms
Smartphones may have already peaked with Apple’s Retina Display , which actually provides a resolution greater than the human eye can perceive. Nevertheless, even in this case, researchers are looking for something to offer us a new one. Manufacturers of mobile gadgets are working on developing ways to display 3D images on the screen of smartphones. Currently, we already have the first signs in the face of 3D smartphones on the market, such as LG Optimus 3D, Motorola MT810, as well as Samsung AMOLED 3D.
And how do you see the development of mobile technologies? What does your phone look like in the future?
